President Federation Cup: Hammola FC Progresses to Round of 32 After Beating Beyond Limits in Tense Penalty Shootout

In a heart-stopping encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Nationwide League One (NLO) side, Hammola FC edged out Nigerian National League (NNL) side, Beyond Limits FA to advance to the Round of 32 in the President Federation Cup. The match, filled with tension and drama, culminated in a gripping penalty shootout that saw Hammola FC clinch the win.

Beyond Limits FA, who are the current Viareggio Cup Champions, started strong, taking the lead in the 24th minute through Shina Ayodele’s header thanks to a well-executed cross by Oluwaseyi Ogunniyi. However, Hammola FC swiftly responded, with Odeyemi Qowiy delivering a clinical finish to restore parity in the 29th minute.

As the match progressed, both sides relentlessly pursued the elusive winning goal. Beyond Limits FA came close in the 71st minute, but a missed opportunity allowed Hammola’s goalkeeper, Salaudeen Saheed, to thwart their efforts.

With the scoreboard deadlocked at 1-1 after regulation time, the tension escalated into a nail-biting penalty shootout. Hammola FC exhibited nerves of steel, ultimately emerging triumphant as Awoeyo Ajibola sealed the victory with a decisive spot-kick, while Beyond Limits FA faltered.

This victory makes Hammola FC the sole representatives of Osun State remaining in the competition after Osun United FC were knocked out via penalties by EFCC FC at Awka Township Stadium.

Currently occupying the second position in the New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One (NLO), Osogbo Center standings, Hammola FC will now set their sight on their next NLO fixture as they will be aiming for the promotion playoff spot at the center.
