Hammola Football Club has issued a formal apology to the Osun State Football Association, football fans, and stakeholders in Osun State following the conduct of its players at the recently concluded Osun State FA Cup final.
The apology comes in the aftermath of a heated match where Hammola FC lost 1-0 to Osun United Football Club. Tensions escalated in the 75th minute when Osun United was awarded a controversial penalty, which was subsequently converted by defender, Afolabi Olatunbosun.
Following the match, during the medals presentation ceremony, Hammola FC players refused to come forward to receive their second-place medals, displaying visible signs of anger and frustration.
In response to the incident, Hammola FC’s General Manager, Coach Abdulrasheed Adeleke, has penned a letter of apology, acknowledging the team’s regrettable behavior and expressing remorse for their actions.

“We deeply regret our behavior, particularly our decision not to collect the second-place medals after the match. Our emotions got the better of us, and we acknowledge that our actions were unacceptable and disrespectful,” reads the letter signed by Coach Abdulrasheed Adeleke.
The letter, addressed to the Osun State Football Association, emphasizes Hammola FC’s commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship and fair play. Coach Adeleke assures that the club will learn from this experience and strive to foster a culture of respect, integrity, and professionalism within the organization.
