Fatai Abdullahi bid his farewell to Enyimba International Football Club of Aba after securing a one-year deal with Rivers United Football Club.
The central midfielder departed from the 2022/2023 NPFL champions as his contract expired at the end of the last season. He has inked a contract with Rivers United and has joined them to participate in the ValueJet Cup, a pre-season football tournament hosted at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Fatai’s two-year stay at Enyimba International FC Stadium Aba saw him win the NPFL title, solidifying his status as a club legend upon departure.
Now, the Osun-born midfield maestro has addressed Enyimba, its fans, players, and staff following his departure.
“Dear fans and management of Enyimba FC,” Fatai Abdullahi begun.
“I am writing this message with a heart filled with gratitude and fond memories as I bid farewell to this incredible club. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to be part of the Enyimba family for the past two years.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the fans who have shown unwavering support throughout my time here. Your passion, enthusiasm, and dedication have been truly inspiring. The energy you bring to every match is unmatched, and it has been an absolute joy playing in front of such a loyal and passionate fan base.
“To the management team, thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to showcase my skills on this prestigious platform. The professionalism, guidance, and support that I have received from each member of the management team has been invaluable. It is through your vision and hard work that Enyimba International Football Club continues to thrive.
“I am especially grateful for the incredible achievement we had during my time here – winning the 2022/2023 season NPFL title. This triumph would not have been possible without the collective efforts of every player, coach, staff member, and supporter involved. Together, we created history and etched our names in the annals of Nigerian football.
“As I move on to new challenges in my career, I will always carry with me cherished memories of my time at Enyimba International Football Club.
