Alaska FC, a Nationwide League One (NLO) club based in Osogbo, Osun State, is gearing up to uncover new football talents as it launches an 11-day open screening for players between the ages of 16 and 22. The screening, which is set to begin on Monday, September 9, 2024, will offer young footballers a platform to showcase their skills and earn a spot on the team for the upcoming NLO season and other club programs.
The daily screening sessions, scheduled to start at 7:30 am, will take place at the Osogbo Grammar School field, commonly known as Osho Grammar School, located in the Osho area of Osogbo. This venue, steeped in local football history, will be the proving ground for aspiring players looking to break into the competitive world of Nigerian football.
Head Coach of Alaska FC, Abdulazeez Abdulrazaq, fondly known as “Hoppers,” shared his vision for the screening program on Wednesday in Osogbo. He emphasized the club’s commitment to identifying and nurturing young talents who can elevate the team to new heights. “Our goal is to develop a strong, cohesive squad capable of competing at any level,” Abdulrazaq stated.
He further noted that the successful players from the screening would be drafted into Alaska FC’s roster in preparation for the forthcoming NLO season. Coach Hoppers also shared that his team will not only be competing in the league but also foster the growth of young talented footballers who could potentially make a mark on both the national and international stages.
This open screening is expected to attract a large number of hopefuls eager to impress the coaching staff and earn their place in one of Osun State’s most promising football clubs.
