Initially, Ilechukwu had established a football team and hired a coach, but circumstances led him to take on the coaching responsibilities himself. Driven by passion and guided by the words of Dr. Olukoya, who encouraged him to transform individuals into something extraordinary, Ilechukwu started investing in grassroots players and nurturing their talents.

Assessment of NPFL

When asked about his assessment of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) in terms of organization and visibility, Ilechukwu acknowledges the progress made by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) in recent years. He commends their efforts in the last two seasons, noting that they have exceeded his expectations. Furthermore, he expresses his support for the abridged league, initially skeptical but eventually appreciating the IMC’s exceptional organization.

Regarding the facilities at Rangers International FC, Ilechukwu praises the club’s structure, emphasizing that no other team in Nigeria compares to the quality and organization displayed by Rangers. He acknowledges the top-notch facilities, including his office and apartment, which further contribute to creating an ideal environment for success.

Lessons from Past Experiences

Reflecting on his tenure at Heartland FC, Ilechukwu acknowledges the difficulties he encountered. He stresses the importance of fostering a harmonious relationship with existing coaches and assistant coaches upon joining a new club. Choosing Rangers FC over Plateau United

When asked about Plateau United’s offer to retain his services, Ilechukwu explains that his decision to move to Rangers FC was not solely influenced by financial considerations. He cites the potential instability that arises when coaching a state-owned team due to frequent changes in government. Seeking a more stable environment for his career, Ilechukwu decided to join Rangers FC.

Ilechukwu’s Football Philosophy

Ilechukwu’s coaching philosophy centers on possession, quick thinking, and an attacking mindset. He emphasizes the importance of having more players in attack than defense and maintaining a strong presence in midfield to control the game. For Ilechukwu, possession with a forward-thinking approach is the best form of defense. He believes that cutting time and space and reacting swiftly on the ball significantly increase the chances of winning.

Regarding outstanding payments from Heartland FC and Plateau United FC, Ilechukwu expresses optimism that Plateau United will settle their dues. However, he harbors doubts about Heartland FC’s willingness to fulfill their financial obligations.
