Aragbiji of Iragbiji, makes surprising U-turn, bestows royal blessings on Osun United and Osun Babes football clubs

In a surprising turn of events, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba AbdulRasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, has reversed his previous directive and now extended his royal blessings to both Osun United and Osun Babes Football Clubs.

It was previously reported that the Oba had instructed the clubs to vacate the skill acquisition center, which was built by the SDG through the Federal Government and handed over to the state government for the benefit of unemployed youths in Osun State.

The decision to ask the clubs to leave the facility was prompted by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi designating the skill acquisition center as accommodation for both football clubs.

The Oba, however, strongly emphasized that the structure was intended for skill acquisition purposes, aimed at empowering the youth in the state, and should not be repurposed for football-related activities.

One of the main points the Oba made in his initial refusal was that the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, had visited the structure multiple times without notifying or involving him in the decision-making process. The Oba expressed his disappointment, stating that the Deputy Governor didn’t deem it necessary to inform or invite him for a discussion on the matter, despite the proximity of the skill acquisition center to his palace.

In a turn of events, the Deputy Governor paid an unscheduled visit to the Oba to seek his blessings and offer his apologies for the lack of communication initially. The Deputy Governor assured the monarch of future decorum and cooperation.

This visit by the Deputy Governor proved to be timely, as the Oba subsequently changed his stance and gave his blessings for both teams to continue using the facility.

The Aragbiji of Iragbiji’s change of heart signifies his willingness to foster a harmonious relationship with the state government and work together for the benefit of the community. It also highlights the importance of open communication and engagement between all parties involved in decisions regarding communal facilities. With this resolution, Osun United and Osun Babes can now operate from the skill acquisition center with the royal support and goodwill of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji.
