Ilaji, Oyo State – February 27, 2025
Mr. Adura Olalehin, a board member of the Nigeria Boxing Federation and the World Boxing Coaching Commission, has donated boxing gloves worth over ₦10 million to the six states in the Southwest region.
The donation was made during the ongoing Southwest Zonal Elimination Playoffs for team sports at Ilaji Games Resort in Oyo State. The formal presentation took place on February 26, 2025, with the general managers and directors of the Southwest states’ sports ministries in attendance.
While receiving the boxing gloves on behalf of Osun State, Mr. Rotimi Dumoye, the General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, expressed gratitude for Olalehin’s generosity.
“We appreciate you for your kind gesture and for all you are doing to promote the sport you hold dear to your heart. Thank you, and be rest assured that we will put it to good use,” Dumoye stated.
Also present at the event was Coach West, an Osun-based boxing coach, who lauded Olalehin’s continuous efforts in supporting the growth of boxing in Nigeria.
“On behalf of the coaches and the Osun Boxing Community, I want to appreciate you for this gift. We will put it to good use and ensure that boxing continues to grow in this country,” said Coach West.
Speaking further, Coach West highlighted Olalehin’s contributions beyond boxing, particularly in handball development.
“He has been very good to the handball family in Nigeria. I can tell you for free that he has sponsored about eight coaches to coaching school at the Nigeria Institute of Sports (NIS) in Lagos, covering all expenses, which amounted to over ₦10 million. He’s doing a great job, and we pray for more individuals like him
