Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has praised Nigerian-born NFL star Morotoluwa Ojomo for his achievements after the Super Bowl champion paid a courtesy visit to Lagos House, Ikeja.
Ojomo, a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, played a key role in his team’s Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The 23-year-old, born in Lagos on August 15, 2001, moved to the United States in 2009 and played college football at Texas before being drafted by the Eagles in 2023.
During the visit, Sanwo-Olu lauded Ojomo’s journey from Lagos to the NFL, calling him a true “Omoluabi”—a Yoruba term symbolizing resilience, discipline, and excellence.

Ojomo’s rise in the NFL has been impressive. He was drafted 249th overall by the Eagles in 2023 and signed his rookie contract on May 4. He made his NFL debut the same year and recorded his first tackle in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals.
In the 2024 season, Ojomo played in all 17 games, making one start. He delivered a standout performance in the Divisional Round win over the Los Angeles Rams, recording a sack. In Super Bowl LIX, he contributed two tackles, including one for loss, as the Eagles secured a 40-22 victory over the Chiefs.
