Following a morale-boosting victory over high-flying Abia Comets FC last weekend, Igbajo United FC is set to take on Smart City FC in Matchday 9 of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference A. The fixture is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

The hard-fought win against Abia Comets not only lifted Igbajo United out of the relegation zone but also earned the team significant recognition. One of the club’s standout performers Rilwan Sadiq, was named in the NNL Team of the Week, while Head Coach Sule Isa Eroje was honored as the league’s Coach of the Week. Reacting to the recognition, Coach Eroje remained humble, attributing his success to divine grace and the players’ commitment.
“Honestly, I thank God for everything, and I must also commend the players for an outstanding performance. They did literally everything I asked them to do. They played to my instructions, so I commend them for this,” Coach Eroje said.
Looking ahead to the crucial encounter against Smart City FC, Coach Eroje expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness.
“The boys are coping really well, and I anticipate a victory from them in Lagos,” he stated. While acknowledging the strength of the opposition, the coach remained focused on his own team’s preparations.
“I haven’t had time to study their game or watch any of their matches this season, but we are going there for all three points,” he added.
With no major changes to the squad apart from a few adjustments to the bench, Igbajo United FC is determined to maintain their momentum and climb higher in the league standings. Currently sitting in 9th place, a positive result against 7th-placed Smart City FC could further boost their position in the NNL Conference A table.
As the team travels to Lagos, fans and supporters remain hopeful for another spirited performance that will continue Igbajo United’s resurgence in the league.
