Edo Queens goalkeeper Morufat Ademola has expressed her delight after securing three consecutive clean sheets for her team in both the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) and the 2025 President Federation Cup.
The former Rivers Angels shot-stopper, popularly known as Amala, has been a key figure between the sticks for Edo Queens in their last three outings. She recorded back-to-back clean sheets in the NWFL, first in a 2-0 away victory against Confluence Queens on Matchday 6, and then a commanding 3-0 home win over Ekiti Queens. Her third clean sheet came in the semi-final of the female version of the President Federation Cup, where Edo Queens demolished Fortress FC 5-0 to advance to the final.
Speaking to Futball Naija after her impressive performances, Morufat who was on the list of alternate players in the Super Falcons squad for Paris 2024 Olympics attributed her success to focus, resilience, and dedication.
“It was a concentrated performance from when Coach Moses Aduku called upon me to make my debut appearance away at Confluence Queens. I had to give everything and not let the coach down. And I want to thank him for giving me the opportunity to show the stuff that I’m made of.”
The goalkeeper emphasized the importance of maintaining focus for the entire 90 minutes, highlighting a crucial save in her last match that helped Edo Queens maintain their dominance.
“You have to be focused throughout the 90 minutes to give your best. In the last game, I was happy for my save and to help the team in a crucial moment. It’s something that comes with my personality—calm and concentration. I’m aware that if I lose focus at any moment, it can end up in a goal for the opponent.”
Edo Queens currently sit second in the NWFL standings, but Ademola acknowledges that there is still plenty of work to do if they are to secure the league title and a coveted spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
“I think we’re in a very good position, but it’s still a long way because the other teams will wait for our mistakes,” she said. “We have to be focused in every game, and if it’s possible, we need to win every game. Then we can get back to the Champions League.”
With her commanding presence in goal and unwavering determination, Morufat Ademola is proving to be a crucial asset for Edo Queens as they continue their push for domestic glory and a continental spot.
