Osun United Coach, Ajayi Oluseye, refutes allegations of favoring his own players over indigenous players during the team’s screening exercise

Osogbo: This week, there have been numerous reports suggesting that Ajayi Oluseye, the Head Coach of Osun United football club, prioritized his personal players during the team’s screening exercise, leaving out talented indigenous players.
These reports claim that Coach Seye was selecting his players for the team and excluding several promising indigenous players. It was also revealed that the coach has a financial interest in his players, as he would receive a percentage of their clearance fees if they sign for Osun United, which is why he allegedly favored his own players over indigenous ones.
However, Coach Seye dismissed these reports during a phone conversation, asserting that everything reported was untrue.
He said, “I don’t even have my own players; I have more than 10 indigenous players in the team.”

Furthermore, he emphasized that player selection is based on merit, saying, “If you’re good enough to play for the team, you’re considered and chosen.”
Coach Seye expressed his frustration with the ongoing rumors, stating, “I have heard a lot of stories about this and that. I have tried not to be distracted. It’s really overwhelming, and sometimes, I just have to put my phone aside because of these issues.”
He concluded by emphasizing his professionalism and commitment to the team’s progress, stating, “So, to be honest, you’re free to say or write whatever you want. I’m a professional, motivated by the team’s progress, not personal gain.”
Coach Ajayi Oluseye joined the Omoluabi Giants in early 2023 and played a pivotal role in the team’s promotion from the Nationwide League One to the Nigerian National League.
