The Team IWALOYE group in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State is proud to announce the launch of the IWALOYE CUP 2025, a grassroots football championship established in honour of Hon. Dr. Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye, an accomplished politician, philanthropist, academic, and a respected son of the soil.
The tournament, which is set to attract teams from across Nigeria, will officially kick off on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, with the draws scheduled for Monday, July 7, 2025. All matches will be played at the Ejigbo City Stadium, with the grand finale aslated for August 6, 2025—just two days before Hon. Dr. Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye’s birthday on August 8.
With a prize pool of over ₦1.5 million to be shared among the top three teams, the “Iwaloye Cup 2025” is more than just a tournament—it is a celebration of grassroots football, youth empowerment, and community development.
This championship is a tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam Iwaloye, former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and a onetime governorship aspirant after the tenure of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. A committed progressive, Dr. Salaam has remained a beacon of hope for the people of Ejigbo through his contributions in governance, philanthropy, and education—with several academic publications to his name.
