NLO Coach Profile: Okikiola Ibrahim, Head Coach Ejigbo City FC

I had a random conversation with Coach Okikiola Ibrahim of Ejigbo City FC and the seasoned tactician shared his thoughts with me on what he thinks about individual awards in football. Gaohzu Coach as he’s popularly called emphasized the importance of teamwork in football over personal accolades.

Coach Okikiola Ibrahim said; “Winning individual awards is good, but personally I don’t take individual awards seriously. Everybody already knows the top performers in a team; we don’t need a plaque to honor them individually. Why? Because football is a team sports! Not individual sports. We are one team, with goals, and hopes. I don’t like picking out individuals for special praise. I’ll rather praise the team effort.”

Coach Okikiola’s perspective reflect a deep commitment to fostering unity and collective success within his squad.
