Cultists Allegedly Attack Lobi Stars Players
Chaos erupted at the training ground of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Lobi Stars on Sunday evening as suspected cultists allegedly attacked the team’s players.
According to reports, the assailants stormed the training session, targeting senior players and issuing death threats should they be seen in Makurdi again. Some players were physically assaulted, while others endured a harrowing ordeal locked inside the team bus with the windows shut for 30 minutes, a move described as psychological torture over the team’s recent poor performances.
Notably, the team officials were left unharmed as they were seen pleading with the attackers to spare the players. The disturbing incident occurred just days before Lobi Stars’ crucial President Federation Cup fixture scheduled for Wednesday.
A video of the attack, shared online by prominent football journalist MikeThePundit, captured the frightened players inside the team bus, visibly shaken by the ordeal. The attack was further corroborated by well-known Nigerian photojournalist Pooja, who confirmed the incident via his Twitter handle.
