Despite a promising start, Osun United found themselves grappling with Gateway United’s resilient defense, and early calls for a penalty were waved off, much to the dismay of the home fans. Osun United managed to break the deadlock in the 76th minute, with Center Back Paul Agbor slotting in a loose ball from a free kick. However, Gateway United swiftly responded as Damilare Babatunde nodded in a flick-on from Taofeek Babatunde, after capitalizing on a critical error made by Osun United defenders, ensuring the match ended level despite Osun United’s overall dominance.
The frustration for Osun United extended as chances continued to present themselves even after Gateway United’s equalizer. The Ogun State-based side, however, displayed discipline in neutralizing the assaults thrown at them, securing a valuable point on the road.
