ASE Ridyem Football Club, Osogbo, kicked off their 2024 New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign with a gripping encounter against AAYK Football Academy of Ilesha. The match, held at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, ended in a stalemate, as neither side could break the deadlock, resulting in a goalless draw.
Under the guidance of Coach Azeez Adekunle Azular, ASE Ridyem FC displayed determination and resilience throughout the game. Despite enjoying the lion’s share of chances, they found themselves thwarted by the resilient defense of AAYK FA, who held firm to deny any clear-cut opportunities.
ASE Ridyem FC initiated proceedings with vigor, coming close to opening the scoring within the first 45 minutes. Ramon Afeez’s powerful header, following an exquisite cross from Taofeek, posed a threat but was expertly saved by AAYK FA goalkeeper Adeboye Musa. Moments later, Adeyemi Quadri’s attempt from the left flank failed to trouble Musa, as the shot lacked the necessary venom.
As the second half unfolded, ASE Ridyem FC asserted their dominance, orchestrating several intricate moves in midfield. Despite their concerted efforts, they were unable to convert their superiority into goals. A late surge saw Afolabi Taiwo seemingly find the back of the net, only for his effort to be ruled offside, denying ASE Ridyem FC the breakthrough they craved.
In the dying moments of the match, both teams pushed for a decisive goal, but resolute defending ensured that the scoreline remained level. Consequently, ASE Ridyem FC and AAYK Football Academy settled for a point each in what proved to be a fiercely contested encounter.
Following the draw, ASE Ridyem FC currently occupies 6th place after the first round of matches in the NLO. They will be eager to bounce back and secure maximum points in their upcoming fixture against HMK FC at the Osogbo Township Stadium tomorrow, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 PM.
