The Osogbo Township Stadium was a hub of excitement on Saturday, December 22, 2024, as Oriade Football Club celebrated its official launch with a grand ceremony. The event, which also marked the conclusion of the club’s year-end activities—including visits to an orphanage and novelty matches—drew notable figures, sponsors, and supporters who pledged their commitment to the club’s vision.
Among the distinguished guests were Alhaji Olayiwola Olafiranye, the chairman of the occasion and newly appointed life patron of the club; Hon. Kehinde Johnson, SSA to Osun State Governor on football matters; Miss Balikis Yusuf, CEO of Opeke Spice; and Engineer Laide, CEO of NIYAZBAM Construction, Mr. Ismael, Coach Surad along with other partners and well-wishers.
In his address, the club’s President, Mr. Olanrewaju Samuel Oluwafikayo, officially launched Oriade FC, describing it as a lifelong dream turned reality. Founded on February 19, 2022, the club’s name, “Oriade,” meaning “the crown is destined,” symbolizes its mission to revolutionize football in Nigeria and beyond.

Mr. Olanrewaju expressed his gratitude to sponsors, coaches, and players for their dedication and reiterated the club’s commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and community unity through football.
“Oriade FC is more than a team—it is a unifying movement,” he said. “We aspire to build a legacy of ambition, resilience, and unity, demonstrating that football transcends the game to inspire and connect communities.”
Mr. Olanrewaju concluded with a rallying call encouraging supporters to join the movement and help make history. “We want to leave a lasting legacy in Nigerian football,” he said.
Speaking during the event, Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Olafiranye, a prominent philanthropist and businessman, commended the team for its consistency and work ethic. He pledged his full support for the club’s quest to compete in the Nationwide League One (NLO), Nigeria’s third-tier football league, next season.
“I want to urge the leadership of the team to do things right always and seek advice from those who have been in the football business for a long time,” Olafiranye said. He also appreciated other sponsors for their contributions and urged continued collaboration to propel the club forward.
