Joy Igbokwe is a rising star in the realm of Nigerian women’s football. Originally from Abia State but cultivated in the football-rich city of Jos, Plateau State, Joy has swiftly emerged as a standout talent.

Inspired by the exploits of Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, also a product of Jos, Plateau State, she aspires to replicate his success both on and off the pitch.

She models her game after Deborah Abiodun of the Super Falcons, who like Joy also plays in the defensive midfield role.

With experience in Nigeria’s top-level women’s football league, competing for Naija Ratels Football Club in the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWFL), Joy has refined her skills as a defensive midfielder, both domestically and internationally.

Her journey with the Nigeria U20 team, the Falconets, commenced with her inaugural call-up for the 13th All African Games in Ghana. Under the tutelage of Coach Chris Danjuma, she has become a vital component of the Falconets squad, contributing significantly to their journey to the tournament’s semi-finals.
