Edo Queens safe hands, Ademola Morufa was nothing short of sensational last season. Her commanding presence between the sticks played a pivotal role in Rivers Angels FC finishing top of NWFL Group B, conceding just 13 goals in 14 matches. Her heroics didn’t stop there—she stood tall in last season’s NWFL Super Six, delivering clutch saves that kept Rivers Angels in the title race till the final day. That consistent brilliance earned her the coveted 2023/2024 Golden Glove award, ahead of other top performers like Bakare Shukurat and Sylvia Echefu.
Now donning the colours of Edo Queens FC, Morufa hasn’t slowed down. In fact, she might be even better. Since making her debut this season, she has racked up an impressive 8 clean sheets in just 11 appearances across all competitions—conceding only four goals, with just one coming from the penalty spot. Her impact has been instrumental in helping Edo Queens finish at the top of NWFL Group A.
With the NWFL Super Six kicking off from May 8 to 17 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, all eyes will once again be on Amala. She’s in prime form, leading the league in clean sheets, and her shot-stopping instincts are sharper than ever.
The big question remains: Can she do it again? Based on current form, the answer might just be a confident yes. If Morufa maintains this level of performance during the Super Six, there’s every chance she’ll retain the Golden Glove—and perhaps even lead Edo Queens to championship glory.
