Rivers Angels’ shot-stopper Morufat Ademola popularly called AMALA by her admirers has been named the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Goalkeeper of the Season.
This award comes after a stellar season for Ademola, who played a key role in helping the “Jewels of Rivers” secure a second-place finish despite a strong push for a record-equaling eighth NWFL title. While Edo Queens ultimately claimed the championship, Ademola’s heroics for Rivers Angels were undeniable throughout the recently concluded Nigeria Women Premier League Season.

The former Osun Babes FC goalkeeper’s outstanding saves throughout the season were instrumental in leading Rivers Angels to a dominant top position in NWFL Group B. They conceded a mere 13 goals in just 14 games.
Ademola’s impressive form continued into the NWFL Super Six, where she pulled off yet another string of remarkable saves, keeping Rivers Angels in the championship hunt until the final day. Her exceptional performance earned her the Golden Glove award, edging out fellow contenders Bakare Shukurat (Nassarawa Amazons) and Sylvia Echefu (Confluence Queens).
